Cannot Change the Location of the HTTP-upload Store

Problem

You cannot change the location of the existing HTTP-upload store directory to a new location. You get either of the following error messages:

  • Enter a valid location.
  • Insufficient space. Atleast <Required_Size> of free space is required. For example, Eg: Insufficient space. Atleast 50 MB of free space is required.
  • Invalid location: The device is not ready.
  • Invalid location: The system cannot find the drive specified.
  • Invalid location: The system cannot find the path specified.
  • Invalid location: The network path was not found.
  • Invalid location: Access is denied.
  • The system cannot find the specified drive.
  • Scheduled DB backup is configured in the given path. Configure HTTP repository in a different location.

Cause

You can see the error messages mentioned above because of one of the following reasons:

  • New location is empty
  • Insufficient space in the specified location
  • Unable to write the new drive. For example, a disk drive that is not valid.
  • Specified drive does not exist
  • Special characters in the name of the drive
  • Network-share location does not exist
  • Access to write, for a specific network share, is not for everyone
  • Network share belongs to a domain that is different from the domain that the server belongs to
  • Unable to find the specified drive
  • You have enabled Failover Service and the HTTP store is located on the machine where Endpoint Central server or the Fail Over server is installed.
  • The path is allotted for scheduled database backup.

Resolution

You are required to identify the cause of the problem you are facing and resolve it using the relevant solution given below:

New location is empty

Ensure that you have specified a valid location

Insufficient space in the specified location

Ensure that you do the following:

  • Free the required amount of space in the specified location
  • Specify another location with the amount of space that is specified in the error message

Unable to write the new drive

Enter a valid drive name

Specified drive does not exist

Enter a valid drive name

Special characters in the name of the folder of the drive

Ensure that the name of the folder does not contain / \ : * ? " < > |

Location of the network share does not exist

Enter an existing share name with a UNC path

Unable to write in the network share

Ensure that you set the permissions for access to 'Everyone' when you use a network share to copy the required executable files

Network share and server belong to different domains

Ensure that the network share belongs to the same domain as that of the Endpoint Central server.

Unable to find the specified drive

Ensure that you do not specify a mapped drive to store the executable files. Mapped drives are user-specific.

Configure HTTP Store on a remote computer

If you have enabled Failover service, ensure that the HTTP store is not located on the machine where Endpoint Central server or the Failover server is installed.

Configure HTTP repository in a different location

If you have enabled scheduled database backup, ensure that you provide a different location for HTTP repository.
