Archive settings

With M365 Security Plus, you can archive and restore Microsoft 365 audit logs in a single click at your convenience, and efficiently control your database growth.

Note: You should be logged in to M365 Security Plus with administrator or technician credentials. Technicians should have the Archive Settings permissions delegated to them.

Steps to enable audit logs archiving

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Choose Configuration > Audit Configuration > Archive Settings from the left pane.
  3. Select the Click here to enable option.
  4. In the Archive settings window, check the Enable Archive box.
  5. In the Archive data older than field, enter the desired age of logs (in days) to be archived. E.g.: Archive data older than 300 days.
  6. In the Archive Folder Path field, enter the path to the folder in which the logs must be archived.
  7. Provide a password for the archived files in the Archive File Password field.
  8. Click Save.
Note: The archive schedule will run at 4am every day by default.

Steps to disable audit logs archiving

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Choose Configuration > Audit Configuration > Archive Settings from the left pane.
  3. Click the Archive Settings option found at the top-right corner.
  4. Deselect the Enable Archive option.
  5. Click Save.

Steps to restore audit logs

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Choose Configuration > Audit Configuration > Archive Settings from the left pane.
  3. In the Archive History table, click Restore corresponding to the archived audit you want to restore.
  4. Once the logs are restored, under the Actions column, you can find an option to Archive, which can be used to archive the audit logs again at any time.
